Vladimir Zakharov

About the author

Vladimir Zakharov, Doctor of Psychology. For nineteen years he worked at the Leningrad State University. In 1979, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Psychology with a degree in General Psychology, defended his dissertation and switched to teaching. For nineteen years of work at the university, he dealt with the problems of psychodiagnostics and socio-psychological training, then he founded and headed the department of industrial psychology at St. Petersburg Technical University for five years. Author of numerous publications and, in particular, books: “The Price Russians Pay”, 2014, “Putin: A Shackled President”, 2017, “The Russian Values”, 2018, “Slavery and Lies in Russia”, 2021. In 1993 he emigrated to the United States. Currently lives in Prague (Czech Republic) next to his daughter and her family.

Vladimir was born in 1944 in the evacuation in the city of Novosibirsk, in the USSR during World War II. In honor of his birth, his father gave his mother a pot of millet porridge, cooked without salt, which she immediately ate in the maternity hospital. The people lived from hand to mouth and it was the best gift. Since 1950, his family lived in Leningrad, where he received his secondary and higher education as an Electrical engineer.

Vladimir has over 20 years of teaching experience to people of all ages and professional backgrounds. He has 13 years of experience as a DBA in three US private companies (Minneapolis). In 1996-2021, he organized and was the permanent director of the LVZ Human Development Center, INC.

Vladimir developed and gave lecture courses to university students and leaders and conducted seminars on:

-Psychological testing.

-Non-verbal means of communication.

– Application of non-parametric mathematical methods in socio-psychological research.

– Fundamentals of socio-psychological training.

– Development and implementation of active learning methods for managers of industrial enterprises.

Developed and adapted a number of psychodiagnostic methodics:

– diagnostics of leadership style

– diagnostics of the level and structure of technical intelligence,

– diagnostics of job satisfaction,

– also developed several programs to educate students and trainers of the SPT in the skills and abilities of partner communication.

Vladimir was the supervisor and mentor of 41 master’s and doctoral theses. Participated in International conferences and symposiums. In particular, he organized in Leningrad the All-Union Conference on Sociology and Social Psychology of Labor Collectives in 1984 with the participation of more than 1,500 people.

From his mother, Vladimir inherited the ability to systematize the material, and from his father – good health and survival in difficult situations, which still help him to endure the hardships of life relatively easily. No wonder he survived two emigrations and retained the standard of living inherent in the representative of the middle class.

Summary: A man who lived most of his life in the USSR, did not drink alcohol, did not break the law, raised normal children, did not quarrel with his acquaintances and friends, did not betray people, lived within his means and conscience, managed to survive in the adverse circumstances of the communist regime and at the same time remained a normal person already deserves respect.
